CNSF Mission

The Coalition for National Science Funding (CNSF) is an alliance of over 130 professional organizations, universities and businesses united by a concern for the future vitality of the national science, mathematics, and engineering enterprise. CNSF supports the goal of increasing the national investment in the National Science Foundation's research and education programs in response to the unprecedented scientific, technological and economic opportunities facing the United States.

CNSF Statement of Purpose

National investment in NSF research and education programs produces the new knowledge and the trained scientists and engineers indispensable to our future economic vitality and national security. CNSF seeks to impress upon Congress the importance of steady and sustained investments in science in order to close the innovation deficit, that widening gap between the actual level of federal support for research and higher education and what the investment needs to be if the United States is to remain the world's innovation leader. The U.S. is under unprecedented challenge from foreign nations, which have significantly increased their investments in Research and Development (R&D) relative to the U.S. To develop the knowledge that will keep the U.S. intellectually and economically competitive around the world, CNSF promotes funding across all the science and engineering disciplines supported by NSF.
